Intro to Flight
Students will learn about the relationship between the airplane’s flight controls, control surfaces, and the four forces of flight. They will then apply this knowledge as they fly the flight simulators on their introductory flight lesson.
(recommended for grades 2 and up)
Standards Alignment
Elementary Level Lesson
Standard 2.P.4: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the effects of pushes, pulls, and friction on the motion of objects. (2.P.4.1, 2.P.4.2, 2.P.4.3, 2.P.4.4)
Standard 5.P.5: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the factors that affect the motion of an object. (5.P.5.2, 5.P.5.3, 5.P.5.4)
Middle Level Lesson
Standard 8.P.2: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the effects of forces on the motion and stability of an object. (8.P.2.2, 8.P.2.3, 8.P.2.5)
Secondary Level Lesson
Standard H.P.2: The student will demonstrate an understanding of how the interactions among objects and their subsequent motion can be explained and predicted using the concept of forces. (H.P.2B.3)
